In the past, we relied on wattage to give an idea of the brightness of a traditional bulb. But with LEDs, the wattage does not necessarily indicate brightness. When selecting a LED lamp, it’s better to look at light output instead of power. It’s better to look at light output (lm) and efficacy (lm/W). Light output value is indicated on the packaging whilst efficacy can be derived from dividing light output with wattage. In the table below comparing previous Philips bulbs you can see that our Ultra Efficient LED lamp offers the best values.
